God Child News: We’re releasing God Child Chapter 3, one page per week . If you want to skip ahead and read it all now there are two ways you can support us and get it all now!
#1 God Child is available on Comixology by our publisher, Caliber Comics! You can subscribe to the series there and get everything so far at this link: https://www.comixology.com/The-God-Child/comics-series/44638
#2 I’m going to firing up the Patreon page again at http://patreon.com/comics if you’d like to become a patron at $1 or $5 a month. All funds raised from our Patreon we are going to use to funnel back into our expenses of doing comic shows on the east coast and save for bigger trips hopefully. We appreciate your support, check it out!
Back to the drawing board for me! – DJC
Comic on hiatus again?
Just a small hiccup for the holidays, I’m sure.
Okay, it’s been over a month now. What gives? Don’t they have the whole chapter already finished? I didn’t think it’d be this hard to update!
It’s possible that something happened. Just back the hell off, okay?
“Back the hell off”
It makes sense that you would defend the lack of updates considering you haven’t updated your DA since October. 😉
Agreed, Silka. It’s not like we are paying anything for this comic. It provides an intriguing story, with a lot of uncertainty. “r”, if you are in such a hurry sign up for the Patreon page or read it on Comixology. There’s no need to get all het up over a delay.
Except that Comixology gives a site error when trying to load it from the link. It’s not like it’s not cause for concern when the creators say “there will be one page a week” and then not update at all for well over a whole month.
Ok, this is pretty concerning now, it’s been way too long without an update. Does anyone know of there’s something wrong?
Thanks for the concern guys. DJ and I are fine. As far as the comic goes we are wrapping up issue four now and have decided to expand into a 5th issue to make sure there are enough pages to do the story justice. The web address to the comixology may not work, but all you have to do it search The Godchild and it pops right up. As far as free updates are concerned I don’t know if/when that will happen again. The vocal majority of Internet folks have kind of been a turn off. Reading for free yet full of criticism. One week the art is horrid and the next complaining that they don’t like the flow of the dialogue. This isn’t college writing class and no one here ever asked for a peer review. There is no other venue but the Internet where people insult you and then expect you to be thankful for it. To those who dig the pages thank you truly, but as with most things the few have ruined it for the many.
Has anyone actually insulted you or did you just feel insulted when someone pointed out an error or voiced an opinion on your work? Would you rather nobody commented at all, and you had no idea if anyone was even reading? Society critiquing media art (such as comic books and movies) is not a new phenomenon and if you cannot handle it then perhaps you should just disable the comments section or ignore it.
Your partner had the right idea with how he responded to a person (several months ago) commenting about a character’s “two left hands”. You took it personally.
People on the internet can be brutal and good luck throat jabbing any of the little jerks too. But personally I hope that yall continue to post this web-comic. It is enjoyable and I do like reading the updates each Monday. As nasty as little children with nothing but time on their hands can be, I hope yall can just learn to ignore the ones who whine just to feel important. But if this is where yall stop releasing the comic except as a pay thing I would like to say thank you to whomever was apart of it. I enjoyed each chapter.
Hey, do what you need to. People get testy if they don’t get their coffee in the morning, they’ll get testy over lack of updates. Ignore them. You have an interesting plot and good art. I’ll wait however long I need to for that.
Is there a way to disable comments on Keenspot? I understand if you’d want discussion on your comic, but I personally don’t see much point in commenting page by page without seeing the whole picture. People are going to be harsh no matter what, and probably try to dissuade you from continuing your work, but that doesn’t mean you should let them have their way.
As someone who is also a writer and has had their work criticized harshly, I would encourage the updates and maybe just turn off page comments. I’ve seen some of the “critiques” in the past and don’t find them to be very constructive.
Maybe a forum would be better? That way people can still discuss and it would be more of an inconvenience to baseless naysayers who want to trash your comic.
I’ve seen some nasty stuff go down in comments sections on some webcomics. Trust me, you’re not the first and you’re far from the last I’ve seen receive that kind of criticism.
Unfortunately people can be unappreciative of the quality of work you’ve created. Sometimes feedback is good, sometimes its bad – hopefully there was some good feedback at least. I for one would love to continue reading your story here (which is why I come back here at least weekly to see if there is an update) – it’d be a shame if you stopped posting it here.
If you choose not to because of some uncouth commentors; alas it has been a great story, hopefully you were able to write it the way you were looking to 🙂

I’m a bit surprised since at least Dan has had plenty of webcomic exposure previously with Yirmumah and Hero by Night. Actually, I’ve been revisiting here for over a month before getting Ally’s message (thanks) because, uh, I stopped reading the comment section. A few weeks after a “missing” update of pretty much any webcomic they tend to turn into cesspits of unsavoriness. Since I’m not looking at webcomics in order to get my mood ruined for the day, I stop looking for comments when a hiatus persists.
I assume that people don’t create webcomics in order to get their mood ruined for the day, so it’s sort of understandable that once there has been a longer pause, the motivation for restarting updates is becoming harder to muster.
A pity. I enjoyed the weekly progress of the story while it lasted. A book is over so fast, in contrast.
